How to verify a peptide lot: CoA Library walkthrough for procurement and QA

Supplier trust claims are weak without a verification path. This walkthrough shows how procurement and QA can verify a research peptide lot using the shipment CoA and BluGen’s public CoA Library—without relying on marketing language.

Step 1 — Capture identifiers from the vial

Record SKU/name, lot number, and any secondary identifiers printed on the vial and outer label before opening.

If the packing slip lot disagrees with the vial lot, quarantine immediately.

Step 2 — Open the shipment CoA

Confirm the CoA lot matches the vial. Locate HPLC purity, MS identity, and net peptide content.

If your SOP requires chromatograms or method notes, request them before releasing the lot to the bench.

Step 3 — Cross-check the public CoA Library

Search the CoA Library by compound or lot number when the lot is published. Compare purity, identity, and related fields against the paper/PDF that shipped with the order.

Public listing is a verification aid—not a substitute for filing the shipment CoA in your LIMS.

Step 4 — Apply the decision tree

Use the HPLC vs MS vs net peptide decision tree: lot linkage first, then purity, then identity, then concentration fields.

Escalate missing or inconsistent fields to procurement before inventory release.

Step 5 — File and label for the lab

Enter lot values into inventory, print or attach lot labels for aliquots, and link the CoA document ID.

Train technicians to refuse unlabeled reconstituted stocks.

Frequently asked questions

What if the lot is not in the CoA Library yet?

Rely on the shipment CoA and contact procurement. Public listing may lag; absence from the library is not automatic rejection if the shipment CoA clears your SOP.

Does verification make the material clinical-grade?

No. Materials remain research use only regardless of CoA completeness.

What should I read next?

The CoA reading guide, supplier evaluation checklist, and receiving inspection checklist.
